Let’s Talk About What’s Next!

We’ve been silent on most social media channels since the start of summer, but for good reason. Because the social media industry never sleeps, it was necessary for the Let’s Talk brand to quiet down while we took on new projects, partners and planned how we would approach the company’s future.

When I (Jana) posted an ad on Craigslist announcing my freelance social media services in March of 2016, I had no idea what was coming next. But as the numerous creative entrepreneurship books I’ve been reading suggest, it’s rare that you have a clue what’s happening until it’s happened. So here goes…

We’ve moved to New Orleans and taken on two new clients, expanding our services to represent the solar energy and home exterior contracting industries. We’re continuing our work with our attorney clients, who have been supportive and encouraging as we scale our business. We enjoy connecting small businesses with their local community, and are looking forward to doing the same with our own brand.

Who’s the “we,” you may be asking? The next piece of news is that Megan Dunbar, who you may remember as an occasional content curator and blog writer, has joined as a partner in Let’s Talk Nola. Megan came along at the perfect time to help with setting up an LLC in New Orleans. She’s taken on many responsibilities in the past few months, from content creation to hashing out legal agreements.

In the coming months, we’ll be rolling out some changes and new content for our brand including:

  • Transitioning from Let’s Talk BR to Let’s Talk Nola across our digital spaces

  • A website redesign featuring resources about content marketing and entrepreneurship

  • Weekly vlogs following our journey as a brand and our partnership

  • Collaborations and conversations with other creatives

Make sure to follow along with the newest updates about our business by subscribing to the blog or connecting with us across our various social platforms!

We’d like to express our extreme gratitude to our friends, families, past and current clients, as well as the city of New Orleans, which has been so good to us both professionally and personally. Everyone who’s followed, liked, and given us feedback about our content has helped us grow in ways we’d never imagined.

We've learned new skills thanks to fellow creatives!

Special thanks are in order for a few individuals who have been critical parts of our expansion. Weese Petersen, who has offered her expertise and accounting chops as we’ve transitioned from a freelance based service to an LLC. Kalynn Barnum who has taught us new digital skills to use for client content, while also establishing her own creative career. And lastly Lucas Roberts, who has taken on several content creation tasks when we needed to focus on other aspects of our business.

Our friendship developed while doing creative work for student media in college, which we believe has been invaluable to our business partnership. We are fully committed to this spirit of creativity and collaboration as we move into this next chapter with Let’s Talk Nola.

Talk to you soon,

Jana + Megan
